It’s a Friday night and you feel like watching a movie at home. You order a flick from your XboxOne. The unit asks how many people will be watching – you say “two”. At some point during the movie, another person enters the room. With the room scanning Kinect technology, Xbox scans the room and detects another person. You automatically get charged for a third person. I understand this will actually “learn” individual people and if someone new enters the room during a gaming session, Kinect will stop and ask the identity of the new person. “LinkedIn is just about finding a job or selling something.” I’ve heard this from financial institutions before and they don’t truly understand the value of social media. Yes, it’s true that there are lots of people on LinkedIn looking for jobs and there are lots of people selling on Twitter. But there is a lot more to it than meets the eye. Struggling to get a new container of shredded parmesan cheese open the other day, my heart went out to the elderly, who do not have the vision or dexterity to accomplish such small tasks. If it’s difficult for me, imagine the difficulty for one with arthritis or bad vision. [more]
