When I walked into the electronics store the other day, I noticed that the customer service rep was talking to someone on her cell phone. I waved hello to her but she turned away from me and continued talking on the phone. I didn’t say anything to her, thinking that I’d just let her finish her conversation.

Late in the night on
December 3, the Legislature formally passed HB 5821 which would allow employers
to implement 100% electronic means of payment for their employees. While
direct deposit would be the preferred method of payment, the bill removed the
affirmative consent required to pay by payroll card that existed in current
law. Now for those who do not choose direct deposit, they can receive
their wages via payroll card.

The ACH (Automated Clearing House) network provides electronic
clearing of payments for participating depository financial
institutions. Transactions are initiated during the day by merchants and
at the end of each business day, transactions that have accumulated are
sent electronically in batches to the The Federal Reserve. The FED
sorts and routes transactions to their appropriate destination and
debits or credits bank accounts accordingly.

So, doesn’t it seem like we just made changes and had to order new Funds Availability disclosures?
Wait a minute, we did just do that!
In February of 2010 we had to update our disclosures and send change notices to our members/customers because of the check hold times changing. Now, thanks to the Dodd-Frank act, we once again have to make changes and order new disclosures.
